If you would like to learn how to enable viewers to watch your Internet video with non-disruptive ads and click on merchandise to buy that is germane to the programming, this interview is for you.

Subject: Our guest today is Rick Davis who is the CEO of 21e (for 21st Century Entertainment). His company provides a video player that enables non-disruptive advertising and clickable icons for contextual merchandise purchases. The player can be viewed at TheClassicsNetwork.com (for best results use Firefox Browser).
Phil’s Take:  As Marshall McLuhan put it in Understanding Media, “content follows form”. Thus, the characteristics of future Internet content will reflect the capabilities of the medium. That means that disruptive video ads as we have come to know them on television will die out. In their place will be clickable translucent ads that appear unobtrusively on the player screen. In addition to creating product awareness, they will empower the viewer to actually buy the product or service advertised.

While the 21e player empowers non-disruptive advertising and commerce, it is not without competition. The destination website veoh.com demonstrates similar capabilities and is well financed.  If 21e is to cash-in on its outstanding potential, it will be important that they gain market share quickly.
