Online Videos: Post Once - Distribute Everywhere
Podcast Audio | Posted by Phil Leigh on April 26, 2008
If you would like to learn how to post videos to a single website that will automatically re-post them to the others where you have accounts, this interview is for you.
Subject: Our guest today is Brett Wilson who is a Co-Founder of TubeMogul. Videos posted at TubeMogul are automatically re-posted at (most) all the other video-sharing sites where you have accounts. That includes YouTube, Revver, Veoh, Metacafe, and many more. They also collect episode-specific audience statistics at each website.
Phil’s Take. TubeMogul is not merely a powerful tool for getting your online videos distributed to numerous video-sharing sites. Beyond that, it compels a re-examination of how corporate website videos might be better deployed.
For example, some of us have engaged an ad agency to produce a television commercial about our company. We pay the TV stations to broadcast the commercial. Often, as an afterthought, we also put it on our website. But nearly always we ignore the audience that is moving away from TV and toward internet video-sharing sites.
In short, if we are going to pay TV stations to broadcast our commercials, then it can be wise to post them at sharing sites as well where often there is no charge. Internet viewers might well be interested in informative commercials that are contextual to their interests.
Some major brands are already adopting the approach. For example, Hewlett-Packard has YouTube videos about their MediaSmart TVs that feature built-in WiFi and Ethernet. Can we afford to lag behind?
