If you would like to know how to hold video conference calls on the Internet for no charge, this interview is for you.

Our guest today is John Ham who is a Co-Founder of uStream.tv. His company is a lot like YouTube except it is real-time video communications whereas YouTube is all about uploading and distributing a recording. To be sure, as you are holding a video conference on uStream.tv, you can also click a button to have them record it on their servers where it is available for playback. Presently, all such services are available from uStream.tv at no charge. uStream.tv was launched to the public about a year ago. Two of the founders are West Point graduates and the third is another technical expert, Dr. Gyula Feher. All three worked together in another Internet venture that ceased operations after the two West Point graduates moved into active service which they since completed.

A number of prominent individual and venture firms are investors in the company including, DCM, Western Technology Investors, Band of Angels, and Infinity Ventures (Japan).

Phil’s Take. This is an impressive service. uStream.tv essentially enables me to conduct Internet-based video conference calls at no charge. It also permits online presentations with an optional recording feature that makes them available as on-demand in archives. Prominent people like Gordon Moore, Hillary Clinton, and John Edwards have employed uStream.tv.  In short, I have big expectations for uStream.tv.
