Podcast Video | Posted by Phil Leigh on August 14, 2007
If you would like to learn how to get your video posted at numerous blogs and websites, and forwarded via countless emails, this interview is for you. (Part 2 of 2).
Our guest today is Josh Hawkins who is a Senior Marketing Manager at Brightcove. His company is an Applications-Service-Provider targeting professional video producers who want to optimize the distribution of their content around the Internet.
Among other factors, the Presidential debates are making it clear that the future of video is on the Internet. I have rarely been available to watch them live. In point of fact, they are so numerous that I am often unaware that they happened until after the fact. Therefore I frequently missed the opportunity to set my TiVo to record them. Fortunately YouTube provides a convenient way catch-up.
Pondering the implications of the experience, led me to conclude that the Internet is a superior distribution platform likely to obsolete traditional, cable, and satellite television as well as IPTV. YouTube archived what I wanted without my even having to plan it. Moreover, if I were a registered user of some political blog, the interviews may well have even been emailed to me.
When Shawn Fanning’s Napster was launched at the end of the last Century, some observes described P2P networks as the first evidence of the Internet’s ability to provide “Superdistribution”. Any remaining doubts are now eliminated.
Thus, producers of professional video would be well advised to start giving serious thought to how they are going to optimize distribution on the Internet. That’s what Brightcove is all about. They do it for The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, as well as many other prominent video producers, new and old.
Length: This video interview is about 17 minutes long.
